The Temple, The French and the Chicken.

After a really long time, an apology letter to finally re activate my wi fi connection in the hostel, and some weird, funny and interesting shit, I'm back to typing shit the usual way. And, did I tell you it feels really good when I type funny, weird and interesting shit into this keyboard? Yeah, it does. Yes, so I used to log  in to my blogger account just to check whether people read my blog or not? And well, I find it intriguing but people actually do read the shit that I type. So, to not discourage the regular readers, I have lots of blog posts planned in the next upcoming days. There comes a time in a blogger's life when he comes across some crazy, bat-shit-insane, mind boggling stuff and decides for sure, "Dude, this story is definitely going in my blog." But if the blogger has whatsoever no access to Internet connection, the bat-shit-insane story soon loses its bat-shit-insanity and it becomes a normal boring post. I have crossed similar and much more interesting stuff that I decided I should share on the Internet, but time makes memory fade and so does the spark. I'll be obliged to part away with those stories as soon as I get comfortable once again typing about the daily shit that goes through my life.  So, yes the fourth semester of  my professional course has started, and boy should I say this shit gets interesting day after day. Micro-controllers, processors, Hardware description language, 8051 micro controller and what not! Well, that is enough to keep us on our toes all the while, but we rarely do that. Apart from that, my mom and uncle came to visit me to the hostel, and the last three lectures being free for the day (courtesy of the diploma entry students), we went out for lunch at the renowned Hotel Suraj International in Bedra (Moodbidri). We ordered lots of stuff, but the best part was the starter (Chicken Pahadi Kebab) with some green chicken gravy and runny white omlete on top of it, with pudina leaves and carrot cut strategically as a flower dressing. It was a beautiful dish, and taste came hand in hand with it. The rest of the full course meal was my all time favorite Chicken Fried Rice and Manchurian Gravy, which tasted as usual, salty and the way I like it to be.
Later came the 'The Thousand pillar temple', where we spotted three Frenchmen. One actually, because the other two were old ladies. I was staring at the utterly beautiful chandelier and the pillars when that elderly Frenchwoman comes up to me, and says something which went like this, "Its so profuso" with a big smile on her wrinkled fair face. I could not make out whether she said "perfecto" or "profuso" or what, but there was an "O" in the end and it definitely meant that she shared my feeling about the chandelier and the pillars being beautiful. I smiled and nodded with a "yes" that barely made out of my mouth. My mama went around the temple clicking pictures by donating 100 rupees to the temple and making the "Photography Strictly Prohibited" area to "Click Pictures Till Your Heart Is Fulfilled" area, and the French followed suit with their huge cameras and intriguing accent. A young couple (probably school or college going love struck folks) came there soon enough raising all eyebrows of the local elderly, they went around the temple a few times. Three, to be precise because we had not completed even a single round while they completed their quota of the day. The first round, they were quiet when they crossed us and managed to stay apart. The second time they went through, the guy had arms on the girls shoulder to which the old person who had kindly taken the donation from us with folded hands, came with a sober look on his face and apparently said something to the couple which made them take the third round with hands in their own pockets. The French people didn't really seem to care. Well, if you watch French movies, you'd know the reason. Both the French and the Love-birds left soon enough, and I got reading about the history of the temple. The temple was built in 1630 and well the temple has an intriguing Nepali architecture. How did the Nepal architecture get to the south of India was interesting enough to keep me hooked. But, it was a long story, and due to the time constraint, we had to leave. I have to read that story, and for that I have to go back, some day. There are lots of blog posts coming, also the bat-shit-insane stuff that I'm trying to revive and relive. Keep reading folks. :D P.S.- The attached photograph is the Pahadi Chicken and the Roof of The Thousand pillar temple. :P Cheers. :D

The weary traveler turmoil :P

It is funny how vacations fly by so fast. Yesterday, I came home, and tomorrow I go back. The whole duration of two weeks, seems more like a day or two. Its funny how, I wanted to blog about this post all the while, but I find the time to actually do it one day before going back to the development of civilization.

The exams were over, and it was time for the packing and the excitement to show itself, because the day after tomorrow was the day when we were going to step on the land which had taught us everything, Mumbai, the city of dreams. Well, almost everything, if not all exactly. So, we pack our bags with utter enthusiasm and vigor the previous day itself in midst of the anguish of our souls and constantly at work minds.

That day passes with a blink of an eye, and soon enough we are all set on moving to the railway station which is about 40 kilometers give or take from our Heavenly abode (The Boys Hostel). The station was pretty far, and we had to walk all the way. However, there was one glitch. Apparently, our tickets were not confirmed. We had our tickets book way ahead of time through an agent, because we thought he is a trustworthy guy. Obviously, we were wrong! Because, though we booked tickets on 5th December 2012 with full payment in cash, this son of a gun booked the tickets 3 days before the train left January 2013! The agent thought of being super smart, so he tore out the dates strategically from the tickets, but he forgot that month and the year exist too! We obviously came to know, but trusted him enough because the previous time in an almost similar situation, he did confirm our tickets.

Underneath the hot sun, we eagerly waited for the ticket to get confirmed, but it did not. We checked over and over again, until two of our friends succumbed to the heat, bailed on us, and shed out 1500/- a ticket to go in a luxury bus. Well, the perks of being rich you could say? We don't blame them, but people talk now, don't they?

BS apart, the agent asked us to bribe the Ticket Checker, but we refused. Hence, we had to travel with no confirmed seats sitting next to toilets and doors, and not sleeping at all. There was however a group of friends, who had one empty seat and offered us their seat for the night. Apart from the getting angry, the abuses and the getting angry again, all we could do was put our luggage in a corner and sit on our own chappals. I have always travelled on a confirmed ticket, and travelling on waiting list seems pretty daunting but one has to experience this atleast once, I tell you that. I remember roaming in the train when I was a kid, and sulk at people who sat near toilets or doors because they did not have seats. I now was the person to be sulked at by some other passer by kid, who will apparently be surely sulked at in the future. I am sure of that. The sad part was, people who had booked tickets after us had got confirmed seats, but we had to roam in the train like seatless souls.

As a matter of fact it was pretty much fun, also cold. We read books, played games on PSP, sat or rather stood at the window. Roamed all around the train as if we ruled it, smiled at beautiful people, children, foreigners and girls alike. Apart from the turmoil of the journey, the cherry on the cake was we stood there for each other, and not back out. We looked after our luggage in shifts and slept for two hours each turn by turn. We ate Cadbury silk orange which was fabulous, because it was all melty and we got to it just as they do in the advertisement. We got down at every stop, claiming to be land on that particular place and boasting about it. What fascinated me was, when I was reading "The Story Of My Experiments With Truth", the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi, an old man asked for the book, and he kept on reading for hours together in the cold with a mild smile on his face. Right before I was about to doze off, he returned the book, and thanked me for it with a smile. It was as if the guy was enlightened all of a sudden. I tried reading the book for some time, but the cold did not let me. My turn to sleep waited for me, and off I went. That book still waits for me in my bag, to be read. I hope, the day of my enlightenment comes soon enough.

We reach Mumbai, and walk down the platform as the Five Guys Who Made It Big in some Bigshot movie poster, in slow motion. Suddenly a TC asks for our ticket, I flash it to him like the fancy FBI people flash their badge and move along the platform. All in all, it was an priceless experience, I actually pity for the two friends who bailed on us that day. Well, I guess that's how it was meant to be. Keep reading folks. :)

A Bridge Rectifier! :D

Its been really long, since I last blogged about my life. Much of that I owe to exams, the tiring (but total fun) journey from Mangalore to Mumbai and well, I do not have an internet connection at home. So, here I am blogging in my friends home, who was generous enough to give me all seasons of "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men", and also giving me free wi fi to use till my eager heart cries out contently.

I am on a time constraint here, I wish to write about the turmoil we went through in the train, and how the agent through which we booked tickets, utterly fooled us right in front of our very own displeasing and stupid eyes. Well, I am very keen on putting that story real soon, about the whole journey with chapters and shit like that. I gotta start writing that real soon, and come back to my generous friend so that he lets me upload the story to my blog. Well, that could take some time provided now I have FRIENDS, HIMYM and TAAHM to watch. So, until then, live your life to YOUR fullest capacity, because as of now, you have only one life. Spread the word, keep reading people. :D PEACE! :D

P.S- This is an image of a bridge rectifier circuit that could be used to convert AC to pulsating DC, and put a capacitor at the end with a potentiometer, and you get a variable DC supply. My friend tried this out, and it works. You can do that too! If you stumble any roadblocks in the process, google the problem or ask me, and I'll ask my friend. Or, you can ask my friend, but you do not know him! :P Its a very simple circuit really. And I guess, I just crossed the threshold of the P.S. note. :P

A Big Fat Sloppy Sorry

I've been through a lot lately, and I do not have words to express it as of now. As of exams, I have only 3 days left for my exam and I didn't start. As of now, I do not care about exams. Exams come and go, it is the knowledge that matters. Worry not, and thy shall succeed is my new found motto. Let's see how far it can get me. For those who log in to read my blog at least once a day, I'm really sorry folks. I actually have no words to type, plus my internet connection has been barred from the college because I was downloading a Discovery TV series, on "How Stuff Works". Until further notice, and with a heavy heart, I bid my readers adieu :(

A honest reply?

"The world, wants us to change." These are the first words that ring in my head, when I get up late in the morning and see my room mate getting ready to go to the library and study. With only 10 days left for the final semester exams, I wonder what is going to happen of me, and my dear brothers who follow suit. While waking up, a friend comes and asks me to clean his phone infected with virus. So, as a gesture of kindness, I take out my laptop, scan his phone with the antivirus, and hand it back over. Then, was the moment when Ajith (the friend I described in "About a Friend" told me I had made some errors in my previous blog post). So, I rectified it in a moment or so, and started wondering at the number of comma's I have used in the blog post. It is truly a large number. That started me thinking, comma's are used in every other language, be it English, Hindi, Marathi, French, Russian? I'm not sure about Kannada though. Also, I do not want to dedicate a whole post only about Comma's! So, people I need feedback! I need to know, what do you like to read? What keeps you on the edge? What will make you come to my blog every single hour of the day? Or atleast every single day? I love to write, that is true. But what is the point in writing, if people do not read it? Or if people do not like what I read?

You, yes you right there reading this post must comment what you want me to write. So please do me a favour and type everything that you want to read in the comment box, or in the facebook page, because I cannot read minds. :P Peace out.

Confessions Of A Blogaholic

Sometimes I wonder how life takes its treacherous plans, executes it on us, and does not want to tell us, about what happens next. What has my life amounted too? All of those 19 years of useless ranting around, watching TV, movies, wasting time eating, sleeping? Doing, thinking, wondering stuff, that make no sense. Until some years back, when the keyboard started making sense to me, when life came like a puzzle, half solved, when I couldn't resist to type, not because I wanted to type, but because I fancied people in fancy Hollywood movies and the speed with which they type. No, I did not attend typing classes, neither did I practiced typing. All I did was chat on Facebook, day and night, with friends and strangers alike. I started typing a lot, chatting with people from Hawaii, Boston, England, Canberra, New York, and people from different time zones all around the world. Their English varied, and so did the politeness, the way they type, the way they express themselves. Having gone through all that, now, I could pretend to be a smart ass guy from MIT, Boston, or a single working mother from New York. Moreover, pretending to be a Chinese person is effortless, as far as the other person does not turn out to be Chinese.

As far as my English is concerned, people find it hard to believe, but watch 3 Hollywood movies a day for a year, and your English would be appreciably fluent. Well, it worked for me. One good thing about the Television set, and all the movies I have watched so far. Blogging, on the other hand came as an interest to me all of a sudden. I did not learn to type, but I learned in the process of making new friends. The only reason I type, is because I feel better, when I put all that I'm thinking on a keyboard with a memory or a piece of paper. Writing with a pen never fascinated me, given my bad handwriting, but writing on the keyboard always does.

Now, as the clock strikes 1500 hours on the 5th of December, 2012, I'm not wasting my study holidays studying throughout the day. But instead, I'm doing what I love the most. Blog post. There are only 11 more days for the semester exams to start, and I know I've to study, but I've not yet started, because I could not start studying without typing all this onto a valid keyboard. Exams, what they do is, get into the brains of the people without a strong will, and make them study 19 hours a day, which ultimately takes a toll on their health. Give it a rest, maintain a strong will, and study one day before the exam, watch miracles happen. Because, it was meant to be this way, I do not know what happens next, whether this post becomes an Internet sensation or the world ends on 21st December, but I try to make sense of it all, because I believe, LIFE was meant to be.
Keep reading folks.

A review ( The Suraj Hotel, Moodbidri)

So, tired of all the food eating in the mess. We decided to try something different and go eat in The Suraj "International" Hotel which recently opened its branch in Moodabidri, a small town 30 kilometres from Mangalore. Well, after persuading all my friends to go there and try something to eat, they agreed and we were on our way.
As soon as we entered, we were greeted by numerous people in black coats and ties, and they guided us towards a seat. Pretty good start, I must say. I do not have much knowledge about the stars that hotels get according to their neatness and luxury or whatever. So, with great contemplation, I finally asked my know-it-all friend, Karthik, whether this hotel was 3 star hotel? He gave me a weird look as if I asked one of his kidneys to donate( this is a movie dialogue, I can't remember which ). Yes, so he enlightens me about how hotels are rated, according to the cleanliness and stuff, how every nook and corner of the hotel should be cleaned, unlike the corner of a window pane in the hotel which was noticeably unclean, and how the tables should not be numbered like the latter hotel did it. Thus, it turns out that this Hotel has no stars but still a fancy restaurant to eat. Good food. Good service. No tax. I especially loved the plate arrangements with fork and spoons and the glass arranged symmetrically throughout the table. Plus, we can eat non veg on the same table, with our beloved pure vegetarian friend because they have separate vegetarian kitchens! The food is not priced too high, nor too low, nor average. You could call it a little much more above average.
The overall experience was good, just before an argument between my friends, about how in 'Burj Al Arab' they'll make you any dish you order provided you give the recipe, but then another friend argued how could they make it if we do not have the recipe and we still want to eat the dish. Well, without doubt the latter person won. Here's an image of the symmetric arrangement of the table. It is pretty impressive (in the ambiance of Moodbidri at least). Keep reading folks. ;)
