We hail from a city where Chinese food is present in every nook and corner of the streets. Thus, when we come to a place where people have just invented Chinese food, the hunger to gobble it down the moment I see it, never stops. Plus you get cheap Chinese food over here. In Mumbai, if you ask half a plate of Chicken Fried Rice or Noodles, they'd straight away tear a bill of 50 rupees in your name! But here, even a full plate of Chicken Fried Rice or Noodles cost 44 rupees. What we usually eat is Half plate Chicken noodles. The usual food every student of our college eats, except some people ( pure vegetarians, my room mate, etc. )
Earlier, the hotel from where we eat used to test our honesty. All we have to do is go to the kitchen and tell what we need to hog on, and then pay at the counter. But, human nature as it is, most of them go home without paying, so the very smart but rude owner of Hotel Ramakrishna found out a new " COUPON " system. Where we have to pay first and then take food from the counter. Hence, the owner gets more money in his pocket than usual. One more aspect of the owner, my blogger friend Shreyas Bhat pointed out, is that almost every other work in the hotel is done by the owner including cashier/cook/cleaner/bouncer. Yes, Bouncer, he calls people who haven't paid back and shouts at them as if he just stole his life away from him. In other words, he did. Well, apart from that, there is nothing around our college that fills up a students stomach better than a Half Chicken Noodles from RK, or sometimes a Kebab to make the dish more luxurious. Yes, Kebab is indeed a luxury with 12 rupees a piece. Earlier they used to charge 10 bucks for a piece. I know, for most of the rich people reading this, 12 rupees might see trivial but ask those who stay in a hostel and they'll tell you the importance of money. Moreover, ask my friend Abhilash Shetty, he's pretty good at explaining things. ;) Here's an attached image of Half Chicken Noodles with and without Kebab, costing Rs.34/- and Rs.22/- respectively. :D Yes, one more thing, the taste of this noodles varies daily, and yes, daily, i.e. every single day!

ReplyDeleteYou are right sir, this is a light hearted take on the hotel. A cruel one would make people vomit if they hear the true story behind it.
