The world has a story

Most people in this utterly simple world believe that the world is made up of different elements, which include earth, water, fire, air, metals and what not. What they fail to realise is that, all these elements are just a frail figment of the knowledge we tend to gather while undergoing an intimidating process, the rest of the world calls “growing up”. Science teaches us all that we need to know about how the world works the way we see it, but philosophy, thinking, teaches us how this world works within.

My cousin is getting married this weekend, and to attend this auspicious union, I was asked to take leave from college. I gladly obliged. The story goes like this, while I was on my way to Mangalore, my  mother’s maternal home, I had to cross 30 kilometres of endless farms, forests, small towns and various means of livelihood. That is exactly when I realised, the world is not complicated at all. All that we see in this world can be generalised in one simple term, ‘Stories’. Stories, define the world in each and every aspect a human could possibly imagine. Most of us have not thought the world in the form of stories yet. But, if we try to think that way, a whole new door of probability opens up. Each and every other object, living or non-living is trying to portray a story, the only minor glitch being, not everyone is able to hear the story being told by every object in this world. Every one of us has a story, be it the common college watchman, the soon to be married bride, the guy who washes the plates in a marriage, a hungry dog waiting for food or a stone lying helplessly on the middle of the road. I came across all four of them, though they were silent, and some paranoid, they just didn’t show.

Each one of us portrays a story; though it is impossible for the leaders of the world to hear each one of us, it is absolutely essential to know the mind-set of the people they rule upon. Our planet earth has been through a lot, witnessing various species and revolutions alike. Right now, the Indian youth is at cross roads, contemplating whether partying in pubs or revolting against the corrupt government is the need of the hour. Obviously, the latter part is more essential than whiling our time away partying, but the western influence is far more gravitational than the country itself. This is where, the youth fail. Me, being one of them is also in a similar turmoil, but I hope, with time I’m clearer in priorities. Hope, cannot do much now to the country which is dwindling between corruption and rape cases doing the rounds. What we need is, action. We are in extreme need of the act that could change the scheme of things wrong in our world, and set them right. The world has a story, listen to it, and act righteous.

For further insights, be hooked, keep reading. :)

Of the broken glass and a new phone

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and like the rest of the Sunday's that I had spent sleeping in the hostel, I wished I could sleep a bit more, at the least till 12, because my usual Sunday routine demanded a uninterrupted 13 hour sleep. You read it right, T.H.I.R.T.E.E.N hours was my Sunday sleep. When you get into the college I am in, which starts at 9 and ends at 5, at the end of the day, you get tired enough to sleep like a log on a nice Sunday afternoon. But, that weekend my mom was here, and I was at my granny's to visit her, and she wouldn't let me sleep past 10 a.m. She definitely would if she understood the turmoil we go through. A good night's sleep everyday of the week is definitely out of question for us.

Also, the highlight of this blog post is that I bought a new freakin' phone. Due to my previous phone's indecent behavior of switching off according to its own will, and the spontaneous nature of my awesome Mom, I ended up with a swanky new Android 4.0 phone which supports temple run 2, and a bet with Shreyas that if I score 50,000,000 within this semester, I could eat all that I want in the newly opened "Fresh and Honest Cafe" and the "Snake Shop" downstairs. So, as much I was into my swanky new phone playing Temple run 2 all the time, I managed to hit a record 6 million, and as soon as I hit that six million, a football came flying in through the glass ventilator, shattering that glass to a million pieces with pieces flying right beside me. There was an eerie silence for a few seconds, with abuses flying later towards each other. All this while, I was wondering, "So that's how it feels to be on the receiving end of a glass break." It was pretty intriguing, because all that happened in a matter of seconds, and I did not notice a small cut on my nose when my friend pointed it out. Blood was flowing as if, all hell was broken loose. The guy who had hit that million dollar kick came running to see if any of us were hurt, only to be invited to a welcome of some of the world's deadliest unpleasant words.

Arjun, was the infamous footballer who had managed to hit right through our glass ventilator. I mention his name because, I had to give up to his incessant request to mention his name in this post. I sincerely thank the almighty to not ruin my swanky new phone to the millions of pieces of flying glass. Along with the new phone, came the revolutionary new software called "Whatsapp" and communication no longer cost me more.

And by the way, the new phone I bought is a Sony Xperia Tipo a dual sim phone for Rs. 9500/- and it is pretty good, as of now.

P.S- The attached photo is of the broken glass pieces that shattered to the powerful kick of Arjun Sreedharan and then later broke into two pieces while trying to pierce my iron clad skin, but in vain. To contact Arjun Sreedharna, here is his facebook account.

Insomnia=A New Blog Post. :D

When you are a blogger, there comes a time called "The Writer's Block", or rather the bloggers block or a "clog", where no matter how hard you decide to blog, you just simply cannot. You either get bored to start your computer, or you can't find the right words to express how you feel, or you are simply lazy. In the past few weeks, I went through all of the above phases and when sleeping I realized that I haven't blogged for two straight weeks, this little piece of fact just wouldn't let me sleep or because I slept for 13 straight hours the night before. After about an hour of tossing and turning, I finally take out the computer to type just so that I could get a good night's sleep tonight. With almost half the hostel asleep at 2:22 am, and a super fast internet connection in the middle of the night just adds the fun of blogging.

So, what happened in my life in the past two weeks was not much interesting. In fact, not interesting at all. This includes boring lectures, sleepy Sunday's, an unexceptionally interesting sports day to which I thought I should blog but later forgot. But, now that  I do not have much to say, I would preferably blog about the unexceptionally interesting sports day. Our college had organized a sports day, a day where the physically fit could showcase their talent in a variety of events, and whereas the less fortunate with a huge diet and a flabby stomach (people like us) were persuaded to take part and attend for the following two reasons.
1. To show that a lot of people have attended and participated in the whimsical sports day.
2. Read the first point again.
The day (half of which I attended) turned to be pretty alright when me and a group of friends went to eat in a restaurant which we thought was exceptionally costly but turned out to be the other way round. Hotel Ballal Tourist, had a restaurant which was totally empty, with only the five of us in the Air Conditioned part of the restaurant. The food was pretty alright, with prices not so steep but above average. The service was pretty quick, but I suppose only because the hotel was empty.

And as the clock strikes 2:45 am, I start feeling sleepy. I finally had my fill of blogging, and now I think I could get a good night sleep unlike one of my hostel friends, who claimed to have Insomnia and who used to write poems when he could not sleep.

Meanwhile, in the photo attached, you can see the perks of technology. People text or facebook each other even when they sit next to together. :P That is Shreyas Bhat and Ankitha Shetty caught in action at Hotel Ballal Tourist. :D :P

There is lots of similar, like minded, crazy stuff coming. Keep Reading Folks. :D

Kindness, Motivated. :)

So, earlier during the day I was more than glad to miss lectures because there was going to be a five hour session in the speakers club (Rostrum) and to gain knowledge outside of class, I'm always game. So after the five hour motivational session which was intriguing and interesting enough at first, the speaker talked too much on motivating and he reached at a point where I preferred attending lectures after the break. True, the motivation was worth noticing, because you'd truly be motivated with a speaker of that energy inching every ounce of his body towards you, persuading you that you must get motivated or else the world shall end! The sheer enthusiasm of the speaker who kept talking since 10 in the morning till 5, with only one break in the middle is appreciated for a Ex-Military retired senior personnel, who is a professor, a mountaineer, an adventurer, a laughter club member, a yoga specialist, a fashion icon and what not feats he claimed to accomplish also who had fever since the past few days. Well, the enthusiasm of this vibrant personality is what kept me from leaving (and also the fact that the staff wouldn't let me leave, but lets leave it at that).

As I already had given up hope on myself, because an already motivated soul couldn't be more motivated except being given the right push, and that push is still waiting to be acknowledged. At first, I thought about writing all about the seminar where one of our seniors and a very good friend of mine, Manjoosha, who reads my blog regularly, lost her cool, stood up in the middle of the seated noisy crowd and screamed at the top of her voice to "SHUT UP!" when people actually went silent, with giggles doing the rounds. It was pretty funny, never had seen her in that 'Jhaansi ki raani' Avatar. :P

The first thought that came across was not many would be motivated by this moment, but it actually mattered when my room mate himself was. Me, Shreyas and Lalit were coming down to our beloved hostel, when in the under-construction Mechanical building, he saw a couple of poor worker's children playing on sand and suddenly a change of heart, and he asked me whether I'd buy some chocolates for the kids. I was lazy and sleepy and said I'd rather go to the hostel and sleep (which I later regret even thinking). So, I accompany him and we go to the canteen where there are no big chocolates. We later go to the shop downstairs to get four chocolates of uneven sizes, and head on to the construction site to find the kids scattered all over the place. Shreyas takes the trouble to chase each and every one of them, which they accept willingly after getting a confirmation from their mothers eyes. This particular act of giving my room mate displayed today made me make a special mention of him in my blog post. I actually wished to do a detailed testimonial but the Rostrum review took half the space. 'About A Friend #2' is coming soon on a special request with held since the past five months.

The photo is of a child playing on the streets of Mumbai, though her face is not visible, you can clearly picture a vibrant aura beneath.

The Definition Of Love, Revived.

Love, this four letter world has the power to turn a person's life around. Earlier yesterday, when I thought what should I write in the blog today, I went through a series of events which include giving up to my room mate's persuasion of going and watching ABCD (Anybody Can Dance) which to my surprise turned out to be a fairly good movie, with pretty enthralling music and a decently plotted story. To add to that, we were already late for the movie with the buses running late, and we asking every other vehicle for a lift to the much civilized part of town and every one of them refusing without a second thought. Then after the movie, oogling at a group of foreigners and regretting how I could have gotten acquainted by asking where they were from or their names atleast? I thought of a detailed blog on all the topics I mentioned above, but the universe had other plans.

As soon as I sit on the bed to rest after the tiresome day, I spot a book I wanted to read for a long time, "I too had a love story" by Ravinder Singh. I pick that novel and start reading the book which was claimed to be "A National Bestseller", well almost every book claims that nowadays. Its like you pay the publishing a couple of hundreds more, and lo and behold, your wish comes true! I start reading the story, and I'm taken aback at first that this guy has written his own story on a page and published it, along with the fact that he was single till 25! There are only a handful of people left in this cruel world where people either understand the true meaning of love or stay single till 25. Apart from the personal life of the author, I personally thought the story gets too much lovey-dovey in the middle, but what comes at the end felt like a hard blow, straight to my heart. That book actually made a tear roll down my eye. The whole conception of relationships, love I intercepted from a handful of English movies, and sitcom's like 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' and 'How I Met Your Mother' was churned out, turned down, rejected and thrown out by a simple 200 odd page book that managed to touch my heart, and also make a tear roll down my eye which countless movies or books have failed to, over an extended period of time.

Somehow, I could relate to that story, somehow that author and his real life story managed to hit a nerve while setting a good example. With all the turmoil I went through in the past few months, somehow that book made me realize what true love is. How, when a person looks into the eyes of another and tells those three beautiful words which mean the world to the both of them, and nobody, I emphasize, nobody else could take the other person's place. And when you get going with your life being single, there comes a time in your life when you are tempted to get into another relationship as soon as possible just because you could get over the first one, but the utter fact that most "English sitcom motivated" people fail to realize is that, love happens only once in a lifetime, and that very first feeling of being loved by a person of your own age of the other gender can never be replaced even if you find Miss World begging at your feet to take her in. It just cannot be, because the very first time I looked into her deep eyes, they told me that she was the one, and when she actually did, those three words completed my life. No matter what, the morals and ethics I have cultivated over time or over a matter of a few hours of reading that book, cross out every other possibility of hooking up with another girl. Life, has changed and so has the meaning that depicts those three defining words humans cultivate. Love and Life always go hand in hand.

As I type down this post listening to the slow hums of 'Laakh Duniya Kahe' from 'Talaash', I cannot but thank that girl who I was flirting with on Valentine's day (just because I was lonely and bored, and she is a very good friend), when she guided me to read Ravin's book and asked whether I would think likewise the day after, I'm glad I went through that book because had it not been for this girl, I would not have gained the respect and love for the one I truly adored. Thank you T. :) Keep reading folks. :)

Valentine of the day- Mirinda mixed with pepsi. Cheers :D

Today, on a fine Valentine's day eve, people who do not have any, either go chick hunting or stay far away from the other gender. I am person, who does neither of the above. I would rather while away my time reading books, blogging or playing counter strike than woo the other gender to ultimately get our heart broken (experience speaks). So, with no prior or latter plans for the day, I while away my timing cracking jokes with Lalit, while a teacher sets his eye upon us, yelling at us in English and Kannada. The rest of the day was equally alright, with us two people fooling around.

At the end of the day, we decide to go have a snack at a shop which is almost 300 meters from the college, because the vendor right next to the college is very rude, money minded, never gives change, and apparently insulted one of my friends. So, we decide to boycott that shop from the very moment. With no choice left, and hunger rumbling in our stomach, we move on to the distant shop on the apparently very narrow national highway. I eat two eggs, buy a bottle of Mirinda apple which tastes just like Appy Fizz, and that is why we mix Mirinda with Pepsi, to get the colour combination of the below picture.

To add to that, I experienced that matrix scene when the hero just misses the bullets, where in my case, I missed the bus with just a few inches, hands spread wide apart with a bottle of the fusion of Pepsi and Mirinda in my hand. A moment to thank god, and also to say to my friend, "Dude! Did you see that? Awesome! :D"

Yes, so all in all the much hyped valentine's day did not live up to the excitement but it sure the day not ordinary. For the last few days, I have been wondering, because I cannot remember the last ordinary day in my life. True, I do not blog about every other day because either I'm lazy or the wi fi gets too slow to browse. I'd rather not surf the internet, than surf on a slow connection. It strikes 1:23 am on my clock, and it is time for bed. So, stay tuned and have fun. Keep reading. :D

Voice Over Controversies

Blogging, brings me closer to the world. Somehow, I feel when I blog, I'm the strongest person on the planet and that my ideas reflect on the people who read what I write. But, that is not the only reason I blog, I blog because I wish to tell my story to the world. There are people in this world who tweak their story just so that they could get famous, just so that their story could get a lot more interesting. I agree, the temptation of tweaking a real life story, to make it epic is very difficult to resist, because then the story reaches new heights, it makes that particular story impenetrable, making it legen.. wait for it.. DARY!

But, I assure my readers, I do not do that. Whatever I type in here is nothing but the truth. Every single day there is a moment in my day, when I make a note in my head to blog about that moment, either because that moment teaches me something, or it has something that would get more hits on my blog? Either way, it turns out to be an interesting read. Earlier, I used to contemplate that what if my friends, my family don't like what I post on the Internet, what if I'm criticized, but this answer 'what if?' could be answered only if I'm man enough to take the first step. To type what I feel, to convey to the world my views, the truth, no bull shit. Yes, that is right, I'm no longer afraid that the world is going to judge, because I am what I am, and I know myself better than anybody else and the freedom of speech supports my voice and ideas to reach out to the world, so why not utilize that to get more hits on this page? Its not like anybody is stopping me, is it?

So, getting to the point. Today, was the day the college was inaugurating a speakers club and the key note speaker was the renowned B.M. Hegde who is famous to the extent of having a wiki page to his name. Sadly, I cannot extract more information from wikipedia because the surprisingly, the hostel wi fi doesn't support opening wiki pages. Weird, right? So, after lighting the lamp, and a brief introduction of  the speaker. He starts off with a pun, and he's really into the philosophical side at first. I like the idea how humans are their own enemies and we have to change right from our very souls to change the world. But, I had a question for him which was sadly not appreciated, because of the following two reasons,
1.) There were no sufficient Microphones in the hall.
2.) The key note speaker did not have sufficient time, a busy famous retired person, I must say.
I agree, that every person has to change for the world to change. But how could he possibly propose to change the whole world? No matter how much he tries to change every person's soul. There will be one black soul that opposes his teachings and ultimately one black sheep in the herd, ends up with a black herd of sheep. I suppose, this is one question I have to figure out for myself.

The supposedly Padmabhushan award winner claimed to be humble and polite and kind hearted, and gave all kinds of explanations supporting his theory but ultimately got pissed when a student with a strong suit of questions accused education with a money laundering - management seat business, the student was right. Every word of his question was, but apparently, one is not supposed to criticize elders or a wise man because we are taught so since childhood. He entertained questions with answers ranging from 15-20 minutes of speech, ultimately confusing the person who had asked the question to think the speaker is an eminent personality who must not be messed with. Also, criticizing a young first year lady and humiliating the poor soul on stage in front of 550 students. Her question sure made sense, but his answer did not. I bet, people do agree with this little theory of mine, but choose not to because he is a respectable person. Well, to hell with that! Just because the whole world thinks he is, you are not supposed to change your perspective about the person. You are free to think on your own and I have just done that. At the end of the day, the person who just gave a speech on motivation by either acting or reading a screen play cannot help you because it is your perspective on life that shall take you somewhere in life. So, the next time you think the person is not right, do not be afraid to man up and speak. Because the youth has a new voice, and it shall rise.
